Debate Observation....Bush in a plane....

rearfang Oct 05, 2004 08:00 AM

My wife is an experienced and avid pilot. Watching the debate and consequently Bush's blank stares at the screen and hesitation...she commented that Bush would never have passed training to fly fighter jets. That kind of hesitation under pressure would have gotten him weeded out.

Kind of makes you wonder if there wasn't something about that refusing a physical in the national guard thing....(even without the forgeries).

That's interesting considering that the national guard ranked him in the top 10% of all their fighter pilots. I suspect that age has a lot more to do with it than anything else.

Frankly, I think he was just so annoyed with some of the things that Kerry was saying, that he looked that way. (I know I sure was!) How could Kerry claim with a strait face that his position on Iraq has been consistent the past year when he took a completely opposite position just 2 weeks ago? ---That's scary!

Top 10%? Now that IS scary....Sure that isn't a Pre-Halloween spooky statement? (lol)

"He was a hell of a good pilot," one of Bush's former commanding officers, Walter B. "Buck" Staudt, recalled in December 2000, shortly after Bush was elected president. In 1971, he rated among the top 10% of fellow pilots.

Hand eye coordination and debating have little in common, so I doubt that being good at one means that you will also be good at the other.

of course that hesitation could also be from his years as an alchoholic.....personally I am glad I wasn't in that lane he landed on that carrier.
