How much to feed???

jkins Oct 05, 2004 03:41 PM

I am having some issues with keeping my Darts fat and happy. I feed almost everyday mainly fruitflies. I would estimate I would feed anywhere from 75-100 fruit flies a day. I have 6 Darts in a 30gal long. But for some reason they just don't seem to get plump. Their bodies are slinder with slight bulges nothing like what I have seen in other pictures. Now am I doing something wrong? Should I be feeding more or more often? I am curretnly working on setting up termite cultures and hopefully will have a stable source of those to feed off. I also have about 12 cultures of flies set-up and I alternate which ones I feed off. Any ideas woudl help. Thanks, Josh

The species might help w/ understanding the problem. How old are the frogs and how long have you had them?

I guess that might help. I have 2 D. auratus/1 D. tinctorius/ 3 D. leucomelas/3 D imitator. All in seperate cages of course. The big guys are all about a year old and the thumbnails are about 4 months. Hope that helps.
Thanks.

are all not fattening up or is just one species or one age?

jkins Oct 07, 2004 05:48 PM

Well they seem to fatten up and then they will get skinny off an on if that makes sense? I feed pretty heavivly but maybe just not the same amount everyday. I was just maybe seeing if others had similar problems or if I was the only one experienceing this kind of issue. Thanks
