the weather here in SF is being really weird. yesterday it was cloudy and cold, now it's really sunny but the wind is cold... etc.

but when it does get hot... say your bedroom gets hot and it goes over 82F, how do you cool down your cresties? i have a fan, would that work if i kept it on in the bedroom?

i attached a pic of my new crested, vas deferens AKA Vas-D

i'm told it's a fire morph... would he be considered RUST? i'm not sure about the coloring...

first of all, im guessing you dont have any air conditioning. that is by far my most reliable means of keeping my cresties at the right temperature. if this simply isn't an option for you, the only thing i could think of is keeping the enclosure at the lowest level in your house, since that will be the coolest. you could also try to supply a mist and keep a fan over the enclosure, because the evaporating water with the breeze will cool things down considerably. but it will evaporate fast and will need constant attention. it's not a good idea to have these guys if there are times of the year when the indoor conditions are inhospitable.

one last thing....why in the world did you name your gecko after a part of the male reproductive tract? i can only imagine what you'd name its siblings....

nope, no air conditioning since it's usually cold in san francisco. but thank you for the idea of using the fan! i have a mini desktop fan plugged in next to the cage, so it'll be pretty easy to do and i was observing the temps today (only slept a couple hours last night) and at 2am it was 69-70F and this morning it was about 72F and when i got home at 7, it was at 75F ... so i didn't even need those lamps i bought -_-

hah yeah it's kind of an inside joke... coz i was planning to name a female "areola" because of a joke b/w me & a group of friends... then i got the crestie and the guy i bought it from said he was a male... so my BF said to name it "Vas-D" in short for vas deferens. so once i get the female.. it'll be named "Areola"
