AUSTRALIA TRIP REPORT PAGE 7 of 7
Dates: September 18-28, 2004
Location: Central-Eastern Queensland, Australia

WARNING – NOT HERP PICTURES

For those of you interested I picked out a few highlights of the birds and other animals that we were able to photograph on our trip…


Rainbow Lorikeet – found all over


Rainbow Bee Eater – from Poona National Park


These are BATS! – Hervey Bay


Darter – Hervey Bay


Galah – a type of Cockatoo – Goodnight Scrub NP


This has got to hurt after a while!


Imitates a leaf, very hard to see!


Laughing Kookaburra – actually a type of Kingfisher


Sacred Kingfisher – Poona National Park


Sulphur Crested Cockatoo in Flight – Fraser Island

Is that kookaburra at OZ Zoo? If so, I used to work with him! Cool pics, thanks again. P.S. - did u stay in Beerwah or Beerberum? Some great herping around that area.

That is some memory! Yes, he's from the OZ zoo. I thought the area looked great around the Glasshouse Mts. we only got the opportunity to drive around for a couple of hours after dark around Coonowrin, Mt. Breewah and Tibrogargan but it's certainly on my list for next time! We stayed just outside of Beerburrum at a motel about 10km west of the zoo.
