Found eggs in my viv!

Bdimas Jun 27, 2003 05:39 PM

Yesterday I posted about my female luec trying to get it on with the male. Well today I found five eggs. I'm pretty sure they are all fertile, they all have a clear coating and the center is black. I'm very excited! This is the first time I've had any frogs breed, I 've had a few specie of reptiles breed, so any advice would be very much appreciated. I do have a few care sheets on rearing these guys.

Thanks,

By the way she laid the eggs on one of the Broms. How should I remove them?

Mine did too. Cut the brom leaf off and place it in a rubbermaid with about and inch or so of water so that the water touches the edge of the eggs, cover the rubbermaid and don't spray. the tads are very good at getting them selves out of the eggs. I have fed OSI flake food and it doesn't seem to get them out of teh water very well. So I am trying to find a good food for my tads too.

Cool! I have read that you can feed the tads spriulina flakes, crushed, or the powder from a health food store. When using the powder, use just enough to make the water ligh green.

Yeah my leucs laid 3 eggs yestereday also it is because of the heat wave I think we are having though out california. my leucs have only laid eggs when their viv was at least 84 degrees.

Hi,
First off, do you have a coconut hut and a dish under it for a laying site? My CR auratus use mine all the time,I think luec's will use one too.I use Pringles potato chip lids and they work fine.I have taken imitator eggs off of a brom leaf with a peice off of a plastic folder my daughter gave me.It is very flexible, even more so then a credit card. What I am doing with my clutches is putting water in the bottom of square Gladware containers then filling the lid of the pringles lid with water and have had great sucess doing that way.Don't use pure ro water,I lost quite a few clutches from using it without doctoring it up with oak leaves.I have over 30 auratus tads and 3 imitator tads so it does work.Good luck with them.........Mark W.

Leucs really like broms to lay on, mine have turn down the 2 coco huts that I offered to them. I have always left them on the leaf.

I do have a coco hut. They dont go in it very often. They sleep on two of my broms, so I think they were comfortable enough to place the eggs there. Mark how do you doctor your ro water with oak leaves.
