We interrupt the show with a news bulletin.

Since the primary goal of this forum is geared towards the keeping, breeding, health, and conservation of Monitor lizards and NOT holding group fights about taxonomy, I have moved several threads to the Taxonomy forum where such arguments are more appropriate.

Rather than doing other things I had on my agenda, I have sadly spent the better part of my day off from work sifting through each of the 200-plus posts from those threads and pulled out the worst of the unnescessary fighting that occurred. I would appreciate it very greatly if everyone here could at least keep your fighting and bickering off of the forum for a while. At a minimum, can we all just agree that you all disagree with one another on certain points and/or issues and leave it at that. The childish name calling and what not most certainly needs to stop and stay stopped or more drastic measures will be taken.

May I now take the time to remind everyone that it is in your best interests to please re-familiarize yourselves with the Terms of Service

Regards,

______

But the discussion was about monitor taxonomy.

FR Oct 06, 2004 01:28 PM

As I have been saying, there are other forums more suited for your discussions. In reality, taxonomy is taxonomy, its not about only varanids, the rules apply across the board. And Please, those forums are only a click away.

If you went to those forums, I am sure you would find a group better suited and more qualified to have meaningful discussions with. As here, we are only keepers and breeders. We do not seem to have a need for that stuff, but surely if we did, we could click over to those forums.

I really do mean this in a nice way, we fight because, we are not talking the same language, we speak captive husbandry and you speak science(your version of). Both are fine, but you need to realize they are different. Please remember, were are doing very well in our field of captive breeding. I assume, you are doing will you your field.

There are lots of people here with good success and methods that express that. That your a specialist in taxo, and scientific field studies, and we are specialist in captivity, makes for different languages and makes for a different understanding.

When pushed to show what you did/do in captivity, you decline, which is your right, but when you do, that takes you out of this forums context. Then you counter with name calling or theory from other fields, and that gets all of us in trouble. The people here at KS have been very tolerant and good about this. Please respect their wishes.

How about, if your going to switch to subjects that are better suited on other forums, you post there, and link to it here. That will surely help. At least, I may only get kicked off of other forums and not this one, hahahahahahahaha.

Oh by the way, do not fight with the owners/operators of KS, thats how Mark got banned last time. Thanks FR

Like the forum title says. It's not about monitor-keeping, alone. Most of the threads that were moved were initiated by you, so save your advice.

Your all about arguing, its not about right or wrong, or in this forum monitors, or in this case, the operators of this forum, its only about you. Heck, i can hear it now, when the grim reaper comes to get you, I'am alive, I'am alive, then the reaper says, it don't really matter. Good Luck in your arguement, FR

Well, you are little more difficult to figure out fr, as you go from polar mood swing to another on this forum = bi-polar condition; your anger is disturbing, and your bombastic behavior is more than obvious that your own self esteem is lacking. Your behavior is abit frightening and disturbing to observe...

As for the Grim Reaper, I have personally seen this figure twice! and it is something you do not want to encounter under any circumstances...it is exactly as depcited in horror magazines, or in the 1961 "Boris Karloff Thriller series" 'The Grim Reaper' starring William Shatner (= Captain James T. Kirk) and Natalie Schaffer (= Mrs. 'Lovie' Thurston Howell III). On the second occassion, there were two of us in the room and we both saw it; my first account has been published (and notarized), and the second submitted as same....

ARE YOU FOR SERIOUS?

mequinn Oct 07, 2004 12:59 PM

Hi,

Regretably, yes I am - it scared me to the bone both times - and I do not scare easily. I have seen some horrible things, but nothing scared me like that did.

The first time it happened, I thought I was seeing things, and tried to forget it; while in convalescence 2 years later for the same respiratory malady, I was reading (in bed) a book by Karl P. Shuker titled, 'Mysteries of Planet Earth' - a very good book to read, and Karl is a very nice fellow - when I stumbled over his review of the 'Grim Reaper' and was shocked! Shocked! - an understatement. I had no idea this was a true entity, but merely a facsimile of Hollywood (see 'Thriller Series, Grim Reaper [1961]). I wrote down my encounter and published it in Fate Magazine (Nov. 2001:51). If your interested, check out Karl Shuker's book, and the film (available on video).

My second encounter was last year, and there were two people in the room at the time. I was scared stiff, and I was frozen with fright. I have never been so scared, not even when I was dying and went through all that (another story - and it is not frightening at all), but this was something else! I have submitted this episode to several people for their review. To the best of my knowledge this is the first account of 2 people observing the reaper in a single event. In reading Karl Shuker's accounts, it is not uncomon! Mark Chorvinski of 'Strange Magazine' has a large collection of such accounts - try a google on: 'Chorvinski, grim reaper, sightings' and see what you get!

Cheers,
mbayless
