He has been around for along time now. The only thing new is the name of his show.
I personally don't care for the dude myself. I did like his show about the 26 foot retic. It wrapped him up and I thought for sure he was gone. Haha thats not why I liked the show though.
I thought it was great cause it showed a wild very large retic, and it proved they do exist at that size in the wild. I figured most of the giants would be gone by now.
If it is a show with a monitor on it then i will watch it. Even if I have to put up with him talking.
Hey Jody. He did catch a roughly 5-6 foot water on that show last night. That thing got worn out so fast though. Good thing is, he got a few good tail whips in on Austin! Hahaha!! And that retic was a monster for sure. Next week he's going for Aussie lizards and the previews showed him messing with a positively huge perentie. Should be good.

Those shows are old. I have seen them many times on national geographic. Him with the huge cobra, him and the anaconda.
I saw him get squeezed by the retic in the cave quite a few years back.
He takes the worst pictures IMO. I mean he has this huge cobra and he takes a picture of it's eye, and it's head.
The other thing is he comes about 1" from being bitten almost on a regular basis. He really should watch what he is doing instead of trying to make it so dramatic. Whats with the matrix style shots? Instead of just grabbing the anaconda he flips around in the water like it is trying to eat him. What is he tarzan now?
He got bit on one show by a cobra. He got lucky and walked away. He should have got what was comming to him. It was like he was trying to get bit. CLOWN SHOES!!!!! He is sorta funny but not a good role model. I don't feel Irwin free handleing is the best thing to show either. If you are going to do stupid things please keep it to yourself. Just my opinion.

Yup, the guy's definitely got a HUUUUUGE ego which makes him come off as a bit of a goof ball. What's with the stupid orange shirt unbuttoned down to his navel all the time?? And he's way overly dramatic with his productions too, just like you said with that stupid wrestling scene with the big conda. Hahahaha!!!!! Basically, the only thing going for him is good cinematography with some different animals. Give me O'Shea, Irwin or even Corwin any day! Still one of the best wildlife hosts ever was Harry Butler from Oz. That guy was awesome!!

I made the same comment about the pictures to my husband. If you had that kind of snake wouldn't you take shots that showed it's size, not the underside of it's head.

I guess they had to do something to break up the monotiny of him speaking.
Does he always fall out of trees with a snake in his hand? I may be wrong but I think I saw him do it twice and I was flipping channels.
Anyway I was somwhat interested and I will tune in next week to see the Australian lizards.

My husband and I watched his opening show and it got old, fast. Steve Irwin does do some crazy stuff, (favorite Croc Hunter line ever: "Remember, you should never try this at home, even if you're an expert like me!"
) but at least his real love for the animals and his dedication to conservation is evident throughout his shows. Austin Stevens just goes and harasses the animals, all to get what IMHO are TERRIBLE photos! This guy just parades his ego onscreen using the animals as props, then gives lip service to other herpers' conservation efforts in one line at the end of the show. We are boycotting Austin Stevens, and emailing Dicovery corporate to let them know.
