Hello, I saw the pics of your turtles and I just adore them! I was wandering if you can tell me where you got the basking platform and the ramp?Do you know how much it will hold? Anything would be og great help, Because I would love that setup in my turtle's aquarium. the basking and ramp in yours is so convienet. Please, tell me where you can get them!

Thanks for the comments! I sort of put the platforms together myself, using disposable plastic boxes at work that would otherwise be trashed. I attached suction cups to the lid of a box that's about 5"x8". Then attached another flat piece of plastic to it at an angle (by wedging something like a rod between it and the platform), serving as the ramp.

I've also seen pictures where people invert a shallow plastic tray (which you can get at a dollar store, for organizing little things in the house), attach some strings to it and suspend it on the water surface. Or you can use tupperware lids. I think that should work pretty well too! The good thing about these DIY platforms is that you can always custom make them to accommodate your turtles. Hope that helps!

Yes it does help! Thanks, but right after I posted, I went looking for turtle ramps on the internet, There is this really cool one that I got, and I will put up a picture in the photo gallery of it and my turtle. My turtle's name is Cosmo and he is under the red earred slider section! check him out!

No problem. He looks like a healthy turtle. How big and how old is he?

turtlesami Jun 27, 2003 09:01 PM

He's about 3in long, not sure how old, got him from the pet store about a week ago
he's already shedding!

I was gonna see if anyone could tell me how old he is!

It may be hard to determine it at their young age but to me it looks like your turtle is a female as the nales are really short and the tale doesn't seem to stick out as far as a male. Of course it could be too young to tell

looks too small to tell, but those claws are very short. If you've seen an adult male's claws, you will never forget them, they are like freddy kruegar, over an inch long easily.
