I went out to s2 and s22 and saw a dead gopher snake and one tarantula the whole night. Have you guys had any interesting trips lately?

cheers, don

I havent been out in a few weeks, but all we saw the last several times were babies, and not many of them at that. Im hoping to make one last trip to whitewater this year but Id like to see something other than babies on the road.

Tarantula, cool find! Im still hoping to see one. We say a scorpion last year, probably 6". It was cool.

Thats cool! Was it easy to spot from the car? I could barely see the banded gecko we found, I wonder if we pass them up a lot.

Well, it was just before sunset, doing about 60 and he was right next to the yellow line. Not that hard. Ed (posts on KS alot) can spot banded geckos like no other.

...a couple of years ago. On the south side of Tamarisk Grove, right where it splits off for Yaqui Pass. Unfortunately, I also saw the SUV that nailed him. That was a shame, because it was one of those really pretty orange and cream ones that used to be called hypomelanistic. About 7:00PM, 65 degrees out, and very gusty winds (boa weather, I would call that). Good luck if you go.

How big was the boa you saw? It appears that those guys like the kind of weather you would never imagine finding a snake in.

All the boas I've found in that area where in temperatures of 70 and below... down to 50.
