Thinking ahead some. But wondering what determines if a snake gets to experience brumation. Age? Size? Only if you think it is large enough for breeding? Or what?

I'd definitely brumate the yearling males and maybe the yearling females. Reason -- AFAIK, males produce sperm in the late summer for use the following spring. And I think brumation helps get the males ready to, among other things, produce sperm. OTOH, corns seem to be stimulated by photoperiod in addition to brumation. So brumation may help stimulate sperm production but may not be mandatory.
