Can anyone direct me to a link or site with lots of good information about the Giant Black Milksnake? I need good care/husbandry info about them as I am thinking about purchasing a pair.
Thanks

There used to be a good one right here at kingsnake.com, but it apparently vanished a few years ago. Luckily, you can still get a copy of it from archive.org. You could also check out VPI's website, or just scroll down a bit... there have been a few questions (and answers) posted within the last week or two about where to get black milks and how to set up cages for them. Good luck... black milks are awesome snakes!
I hadn't seen that critter country site before. How do you access the Archives.org for the other. like your Gaigeae pics. Good luck with the Blacks.
Bob.
By the way Nate... Your in Maine and you keep your Blacks without any supplemental heat right? If you don't mind me asking, what are your daily temps in your enclosures? Daytime/Nightime lowest/highest?
Just got another trio and I'm thinking of going your route from the start to see what difference it makes.
Thanks, Bob.
Hello,
Archive.org is just a website that maintains caches of web pages... so if you have an outdated bookmark or a link that doesn't work anymore, most times you can just go to the website, put the address into the text box with the "Wayback Machine" icon next to it, and click "Take Me Back". It usually has copies of most web pages that go back several years. They also have a lot of other cool stuff on that site like old documentary/propaganda movies. It's not my personal website or anything, so I don't store any pictures there. I do have a photo gallery here on the Kingsnake.com site, in the Photo Gallery section under the username nategodin. (Original, huh?)
As far as the black milk temps... to be honest with you, I stopped keeping track quite a while ago. When I first got them, I kept them in unheated 10 gallon aquariums, the temp. was usually right around 70 year round, maybe down into the 60s on a winter night, mid-80's max. on a hot summer day. When I moved them to the larger cages they're in now, I never bothered to install thermometers in the new cages. I'm usually wearing a t-shirt and jeans indoors, so I figure if I'm comfortable, they are too. I also have a Sinaloan, and of course she has a heater on one end of her cage and thermometers to measure the heat gradient. There's just no need to worry about such things with gaigeae... one of the reasons I like them so much.
Nate
