interesting behaviour

loko Oct 06, 2004 09:03 AM

my veiled has a dripper installed in his cage.
he loves to stand under it and is taking a shower daily.
he deliberately walks up to it and first gets his head and then his body soaked.

have you seen this behaviour in your cams as well? does it indicate anything? or is it just plain pleasure?

I had an ambanja that use to stick his head under the dripper for hours at a time...never saw him stick is toung out once in his life to drink...but he'd just sit there with is eyes closed.

My female tamatave loves to play in the puddles of water from the dripper also...

they are silly little creatures arnt they?

Try warming the water a bit if you don't already. My male Nosy be loves to drink water and take showers. When I first received him and a female, he put his head under a leaf where water was running off from me misting and opened his mouth and started swallowing large gulps of water for a good few minutes. My female loves to eat but hates the mist and I have never actually seen her take a drink of water. While my male will actually climb very quickly to put either his body or head directl in the path of my misting ever since I started using warm water. I usually wear out before he does. I am looking to buy a Mr Mister and put an aquarium heater in it to provide warm misting off and on through out the day.

Enjoy,

yup, Luna does it, too. She has a funny gap in her mouth so the water sort of trickles in and then she will drink - this is how I get her to drink by hand, too - very easy without that hermetically sealed mouth! LOL!

She will "shower" under her dripper for hours and looks up at it if it has run out!
