I have an adult male snow corn that is approximately 8 years old. I have had him for four years, and he has always been healthy. I have him in an 20 gallon tank (may be a little too small for him), and he is about 4 feet in length. He has a heat gradient of 83(hot) to 76 (cool) during the day with slightly cooler temps at night. He stopped eating about four weeks ago and I wasn't too concerned at first until he started some other symptoms recently. He has developed a slight wheeze in his breathing, and so I figured it was just a respitory and made a vet appointment for this weekend. Then he started the spinning. He coils up in a corner of his tank and just spins, fast and then slow and fast again for about five minutes at a time. I have caught him doing this several times. When he is not spinning he is very active and has shed, and defecated in the last week. The vet I have is a reptile vet and highly recommended in our area. I talked to the technician and they have never heard of a snake spinning. Does anyone have any clue why he might be spinning? I am still taking him in to the vet this weekend to check his breathing and to see if he has mites or anything.
Thanks,
Anna
