My new Blue Beauty (pics)

crtoon83 Oct 06, 2004 02:28 PM

She's not very blue...she almost looks like a taiwan beauty. Do they get the blue with age? I just got her this morning at about 8:45 from Randy W, she seems in very good condition...hasnt even gone in her hide yet! Very intersting to watch, loves to climb up and down all the vines I have in there...shes about 4 months old (hatch date 6/19) and about the size my yearling licorice stick was when I got her...lol

Is this a rediciously blue color to expect my snake to ever become?

That pic seems a bit too blue to be believable, but whatta snake!

Your blue beauty seems to me like a typical blue. Baby taiwans are a lot more duller!

Congrats on your blue. I have 8 and I just love them!!!

Nice little snake. You realy have to see a blue and a taiwan baby next to each other, and you realize, even thought baby blues aren't their adult color, they aren't even close in looks to a taiwan. Good taiwans are more yellow/gold, white backgrounded sides, and a very distinctively black, offset, butterfly pattern that runs most of the way up the neck.

Wow, my first clutch in 3 months old now, and one of the remaining three is nearly three feet long already. On average I'd say both clutches have an average length of over two feet easy.

Good looking little fella though! Hope that you enjoy working with blues as much as those of us with them already do...lol:D

Thanks. I was thinking that picture was a little strange...doctored up or whatever...I have pictures of the parents and they are both beautiful snakes. Honestly, having 2 years experience handling snakes in the wild... and yes i've been bitten before no i didnt like it. lol. i've heard so many horror stories about how "mean" these are i'm honestly pretty nervous about picking it up for the first time in a couple days...even though i'm pretty sure i wont get bitten.

Another question...for those of you who have grown ones...what kind of housing are they in? oh and conrad...i'm going to reply to your email as soon as i get a chance...i've been kept very busy recently.

Thanks everyone.

They turn more of a slate blue color as they grow. I make sure to write that info in my ad incase anyone is not aware of the color change they go through. Here is a picture of the father stretched out. Randy
