Does anyone make their uros fake burrows (PVC, vent piping, etc) for the terrarium? How important do you think this is for their well being? I'm planning ahead and wanted opinions on this aspect.
Thanks!

I have sleeping chambers for my uros that I made with 3.5 gallon rubbermaids and drainage pipes, as described on Doug Dix's site. There's a soil/sand mix kept slightly humid in the tubs. The uros all spend LOTS of time in both the pipes and in the tubs. As soon as I put those in, all other "favorite" hides were immediately abandoned, which I assume means they like these much better.

I think it's beneficial to their health since they can finally escape predators (ie. us humans
). Ra just loves his new burrow and comes out on his own to bask (I was a little concerned about the lower temps in there). It'll also be a good place for him to spend his brumation period.
Here's a pic of the burrow system I designed (without the substrate). Ra seems to prefer the den with 2 exits.

Hide spots are necessary. I have two caves. (Ones an artificial one I bought at a rep show and the other is a terra cotta bowl that has a couple of holes busted out. They also have a log and some rocks to crawl under. Even with all that they still love to dig their own occasionally. Two days ago I put a new food bowl in their cage they hadn't seen before. Rather than coming over to eat the male ran over and immediately started digging a tunnel under it.
