ceramic or halogen

mastino177 Oct 06, 2004 07:54 PM

I just put in my MVB's and I don't think that they're going to give enough heat to my uros and beardie. What would be the best heat supplement...ceramic admitter or halogen bulbs?

I would go with a heat source that also provides additional light for any diurnal lizards. So halogen, IMHO.

Of course, if you're happy with your lighting already, CHEs last a whole lot longer before needing replacement.

I could be wrong about this, but it was my understanding that halogen bulbs pose a much greater fire risk than the ceramic heat emitters. I don't use MVBs either though, so it is all very much personal choice.

IF you already have a good light source and need extra heat, a che might work, but I would recommend the halogen because uros are usually drawn to light, their instincts tell them that light=warmth
