Baby Dragon doesn't like crickets

Snakemother Oct 06, 2004 08:06 PM

My new baby dragon doesn't like crickets. She'll eat greens, but ignores crickets. She goes crazy for any worm, but I know I can't feed mealworms or waxworms to her as a staple. By denying her worms, I can get her to take one cricket with her greens, but she won't eat any more. Would silkworms or butterworms be okay as a staple insect for a baby dragon? If so, could I feed her them twice a day like I would crickets (I'd like to feed her up a bit)?
Thanks!

i use silkworms as a staple, its good that ur beardie likes hsi veggies u should give him more, but silkworms are a good staple (IMO) but ur guy gets a little tubby, try to feed him as much veggies as he can eat then give him silkworms

LOL.

If you are feeding RepCal pellets then there isn't a problem. If your not, then you will have to find some kind of animal protein (bugs) that it will eat.
If you are offering too many crickets, they can tend to bother the babies & they can just loose interest & see them as a nuisance rather than food. Also if you leave them in the cage, the same thing can happen.
You might want to try cricket feeding in a different cage or container. Put the dragon in what ever you use, leave it in for a few min. & put it back in it's cage. That way, they can't "bug" it too much. lol

Good luck.

Hi
some times if you drop 15 20 cricks in cage youre beardie can be paranomia.
see all those things jumping around him he almost feeling he got surounded.
try 3,4 cricks .
put them in a plastic contianer and then slow them down in a freezer.
20-30 sec for a small crick and when they r bigger it can take longer!
look every 10-20 sec so you not foget them and freez them to dead.
freez them til you see the legs moving little bit.
then dust them and after 3,4,5 minuts they come alive again.
then i think youre beardie wil hunt them down .
hope it works for you
