UVB Bulb of all UVB Bulbs

pike024 Oct 06, 2004 11:55 PM

i have an iguana when i was younger. i took it to a vet that recommended i purchase this tube bulb from a medical supply company. the bulb was used behind the plastic on the X-ray holders at the hospitals. oh it causes blindness in mammals I guess, so you had to be out of the room to run it. I put it on about 15 minutes, twice a week. the guy at the supply company told me 5% of his business was from iguana owners, yet nobody in any pet store and the few other iguana owners i've met have never heard of such a bulb.

have any of you (or all of you?!) and if so, i probably shouldn't be surprised petco is clueless right?

I know what you are talking about, and I only know that because my mom has been a nurse for 25 years. I don't know where to get them, but I am sure I can find out and get the name of them.

Why take a chance and move away from the UVB-producing bulbs and tubes that are known to be safe? The lamp you mention is an unknown, it might radiate a lot of UVC, which is real bad.
