Baby snapper ID

PHFaust Oct 07, 2004 12:21 AM

Howdy gang,

I had someone call me this evening on the rescue line with what I can only assume was a baby snapper. Does anyone have a photo of the under belly? These folks do not have a digital camera available to send me a pic, so I am basically going on description. It was found in the wild (somewhat) and is going to be released. They do have email, and I was hoping I could get baby pics to send them. You help is appreciated.

I'm sure someone will post a pic, but i'll give you a description. The Plastron (underbelly) of a snapping turtle is small in comparison to most turtles, and it is cross shapped. The color varies from almost white, to yellow or "horn colored".
