Breeding Question

rellim Oct 07, 2004 08:30 AM

I have a one year old male Nic Boa and was thinking about breeding him when he matures. Everyting i have read so far says that i should separate the male and female before breeding. Does this mean that they should not be together at all until it is time to breed or that i should separate them a set time before breeding season? I was also wondering if I should get a female of similiar age now or wait till my male matures and get a mature female then. Thanx.

The ONLY time they should be together is during breeding.I would find an older female for your male.Ideally you want your female a bit bigger and older than your male.

you should keep the boas apart till its time to breed them.
And as far as getting an older snake as compared to a raising up a baby or a year old snake this is up to you. I like to raise up the snakes myself. I enjoy seeing them grow and I like to keep my snakes
as pets. And since your snake is only a year old, why not.
