"My 2 cents on the JUNGLE argument!"

Hypoboa1 Oct 07, 2004 10:54 AM

This whole jungle argument has been really agrivating an confusing to me!I see good points in the argument an I have seen bad points! What is so confusing about the jungle to me is this! These boa's didnt just magically appear one day! They were imported or what ever from the wild"right?"!An the people over in sweden took the time threw breeding to prove them out "right?"An then if I have my story right Pete Kahl brought them into the United States!Ok,my questions,If these animals came from the wild, why is their not more out their? Can we control what snake breeds with what snake out in the wild NO!An we alredy know from captive breed breeding that this trait is co-dominent an half the litter shows signs of being just normals, because of markings an coloration,"Right?"Well we also know an it has been proven that some of the big breeders out their have made mistakes on some of these normal looking boa's an have seen that some of these normal looking boas have carried the trait!Lets just say Joe Smoooze down the street bought a what he thought was a normal looking boa from lets say Mike,An well 1 year down the road or 3 years down the road he breed it an boom he has jungles coloration a little off but still a jungle,an because he is a nobody an he bought the snake as a normal,he cant sell them for what they are worth! The bottem line an confusing thing is!This is all very possible!VERY VERY POSSIBLE IT HAS HAPPENED!sO THEN WE STEP BACK AN LOOK AT ALL THE VERY ABBERANT BOAS THAT WERE BROUGHT INTO THIS COUNTRY,OOPS sRY,Icant type! But are just normals an then the ones that were brought here an have been proven out in a codominent fashion,an because of all this fighting they get named somthing else! That isnt right! What gives any of us the right to do somthing like that!It just dont make no sence to me!My snake has some characteristics of a jungle but,I have to take the time to prove her out,Lets just say that she does prove out with 2 different breedings an then a 3rd breeding with a male sib back to momma! An I get supers! That right their proves her out!An because she may be a jungle or she may not be,because of this argument I have to name them somthing else!An if I finally get to the point that I can even think about affording a male jungle an breed him to her an I get a litter of supers,What then?I just took a how many year lineage an popped a name on it just for sake of an argument? That isnt right either!!!I feel we all need to keep an open mind about these boa's an do a whole lot more research on these boa's!An I am sorry to say this but just because I am a big breeder an I have jungles, that that is the way it is an noone is going to say anything different!I dont care how many years one has been doing this, its like anything else out their in life,if you dont keep an open mind to learning you aint gonna learn crap! But on the other hand alot of people that are selling animals that havent been proven out an they are selling them as jungles ,well I understand how alot of people can be upset! It isnt right or fair to the hobby!I just think that we should all keep an open mind about the whole subject! An the ones that are out scamming people, well they will pay with time!I appologize for this being so long an I thank the people that have helped me with any an all info on boa's the past year! Its a little more than just my 2 cents but this is my opinion an I am going to keep an open mind on this subject because I do wanna learn EVERYTHING THAT I CAN LEARN!Thanks Eric Baker![Hypoboa]

Jungle's are nothing more than Aberrant Boa's,that some Sweedish Guy Proved out Genitic, He said "AH DUH, I THINK I'LL CALL THEM JUNGLES" and there you go.When you prove your Aberrant's out Give them a "NAME" ! !

trying to get this point across for sometime now. Although the Swedish line of aberrant boas are incredible, they had to come from somewhere..... I bet it was the jungle (ha!)......

Fron all the argueing and fusses about the jungle has caused me to make a decision on if i get a pair with paper work and the whole 9 yards , will it be worth the hassle . I decided no it won't. I'm just a little guy with more than just boas in my collection and sell local only ( for now). My thought on this line is no one knows me on the web so what are the chances of me selling them - slim to none cause i'm not a big wig. The jungle morph to me will eventually die and go away cause people come on here wanting to know if there snake "LOOKS" JUNGLE AND THEY GET FLAMED HARD. If some one can , Post a pic of a wanabe jungle , an actual jungle and a super jungle all on one post so we can study them and draw our own conclusions. Just my 2 cents or mayby a dime. Paul

NAME IT AFTER YOURSELF WHEN YOU PRODUCE IT. If that swedish guy had only named the morph after himself, there wouldn't be this issue. "Jungle" is just too easy to jump on, especially for a morph that isn't as apparant as say, an albino. If I were to produce something wild out of a pairing of animals and prove it to be a genetic morph, I'd name it the Brady Boa. There's not much chance of someone trying to capitalize on that b/c you can't say does this look like a Brady boa w/ out first asking yourself the question... "is it related to the animals that ARE Brady boas?" If your answer is "no", then you don't even have to ask the question. If your answer is "yes", then you don't even have to ask the question. B/C YOU ALREADY KNOW WHERE YOUR ANIMAL CAME FROM AND IT DOES OR DOESN'T DISPLAY THE TRAIT YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT.

So, simple directions to keep the future morph debaters and flamers at bay =)

Have a great day/night!

I've seen a lot of clearly abberant types that are most likely due to low mean gestation temeratures. Some others that just have the chain style back pattern but are otherwise drab. A few that have the ultra clean, crisp markings, good color and head type of established Jungles, but not the pattern. And I sincerly doubt that any of them are compatable with the Swedish line- but do they HAVE to be compatable to fit the discription of Jungle? If you can't tell the difference between all of the above, you'll probably be happy paying the $800-$1800 that they are going for. However, if you want an established Jungle line and the superior form of Jungle, ie Super Jungle, that's what you should buy, but get out your wallet.. $4000-$6000 last time I checked. And if you still can't tell the difference, get a hammer and wack yourself in the head as you as a retard.
