feeding question?

cornsnake420 Oct 07, 2004 04:27 PM

i have 2 corns and the one is eating very large adult mice ...the biggest they come:P now lately the store hasnt had adults only regulars, so i get the biggest regular mice they have but doesnt feed her well...this week they had tiny baby rats, so i got a baby rat for her it looks a bit bigger then the biggest adults i have fed her but i think she can handle it

my question is will it take time for her to adjust from mice to rat? could i feed her mice again? she was eating 2 adults or regulars a week but i think if she will eat it the 1 baby rat will do for the week any info is helpful

I feed my corns rats and mice. They seem to enjoy both, not showing a preference for one over the other.

I have 2 adult 2002 corns one over 4 feet and one just under 4 feet. They were both on 2 adult frozen thawed mice per feeding for a while before I decided to try frozed thawed wean rats. They both got them down but it was a bit more effort. They also seemed a lot less anxious to eat come mealtime while previously they were both willing feeders. I had them on the rats for about 2 or 3 months until my supply ran out. I have since gone back to 2 mice and they seem to prefer them, though they don't seem as excited to eat as they did when they were younger. Maybe someone else could chime in on decreasing appetites with age. Anyway I hope that helps.
