Panther not eating

ulvirys Oct 07, 2004 05:02 PM

I have panther cham for 9 months now and had never had a problem with him going off feed for 4 days. He doesn't seem to have any healf problem, moves around the cage, seems to be alearted and his eyes look healthy. I tried offering him supper& silk worms, roaches but he just ignors them. One thing I've noticed is that the skin color on his head has changed from bright green to milkish. Would that have anything to do with not accepting food?
I appreciate any input.

He may be about to shed. A few of mine show atypical behavior right before a shed (not eating, some lethargic, others more hyper, etc).

I wouldn't get too concerned about him at this time. I have several Panthers and the males typically start behavior like this at about that age. They start thinking about mating and they don't eat. Some of my males have gone a couple of weeks without eating and they didn't lose any weight, not even a gram.
Hope this helps.
