With all this jungle talk i have a stuid question ...

jayf Oct 07, 2004 05:22 PM

i see all this mess about jungles but i do not quite understand what sets them apart as a morph .. all the other morphs i can look at and instantly know why they are morphs but even after being around reptiles for about six years i am stumped by what a jungle looks like .. or is supposed to look like with so many posts about fake jungles and what not .. could someone please just provide a good discription and maybe a picture of what makes them so special. thanks

ok .. i think the problem is that they appear to look pretty much just like a varried form of stripped boas .. thanks for the information by the way. i do not see much of a difference between striped and jungle though. to me stripped seems to be when the top pattern is connected and i guess jungle would be like breeding a circle back to a striped? sorry i kinda understand better i just think it is too much of a variation of anotehr morph rather than an entirely new morph in itself.

Its a MONEY issue truth be known, pretty ? yeah theres some good looking jungles no doubt. Worth the money ? LMAO for what ?? LOL!
Oh yeah ....Your chance to breed some money mutts of your own !! if not maybe just some bragging rights ! LOL!! Got to keep up with the Jone`s LOL!!Cant make it on your own self worth with out haveing a Social Status symbol of "worth" LOL!!
They come no where near stacking up to the likes of the pure strains like that of Gus Renfro,Kevin Barnett and several other breeders of pure lines.Just look at the pics Gus has posted over the last few weeks.LOL BS !! ITS NOT a matter of Preference(s)
All this BS over a morph mutt that cant stack up to 1/144th of whats available on the market as far as LOOKERS!
The point of the matter is people calling it a duck when it cant even quack.Reguardless whether its looks like a duck,no quack no duck.
Money really does some silly **** to people LOL !! just look at them.

Well what kills me is this ... you have the ones that do nothing but "locality" boas as you mentioned. Now I fully respect that and thats all grand .But in all honesty unless you phyiscally go to say the lower Amazon River Basin and hand pick that snake from the wild and ship it back/ bring it back with you you are going on the word of a exporter " gatherer" that says " I picked this snake up at place X " Now with that you are inturn trusting someone who gathers these boas up for what ? AMERICAN DOLLARS they do this for a living but with the most part knowing 95% of the people who buy these boas are never going to come down and go personally collect such a snake from its home range. So in turn you are basing the locaility data all based of what some guy 1000's of miles away from you in the jungles of SA tells you . Now im not at all bashing the locality Boas but what really kills me is the talk that goes on in the locality keepers as a general rule of thumb about wild populations going away etc etc but yet do they not them self contribute to that very cause ? i mean i know rainforrest are dying out every day but also does it do anything to speed up the demise of these " locailty boas " buy payingto have them stripped of their homerange? if the answer is Yes its worth it why is it to get a better looking "locaility" boa then you have ? to strengthen the bloodline more ? i mean in all realility to you have the locailities thats all great i applaud you work with what you have but to say the "mutt breeders" are lower on your scale of perception then you are for localities then you are calling the kettle black. For the most part the "mutts" are not collected from the wild there for they are not adding to the demise of the Boas as we know them in the wild . the same thing that makes a cagle peruvian worth $1500 for a otherwise "NORMAL" looking peruvian is the same thing that makes that Sunglow boa worth $5k to a mutt collector as people refer to them. and really ... wasnt the kahl albino a WILD caught snake not some monster created by dr frankenstien..lol

Just something i wanted to ask though since so many locality specifc guys seems to always rag Morph keepers and refer to them as mutts its basically like driving a chevy... you can drive a chevy Geo or you can drive a chevy corvette

To those who keep mutts as you call them they are our corvettes and we dont think of a classic locality snake as a the geo

But to you all you seem to think you keep thecorvette and we keep the geo in the drveway.

I just wish that atleast you can see shoices for what they are , what people like to have , keep and work with. I dont think theres many if any guys/gals that keep the mutts you reffer to that look at the guys who keep local specific boas as anything less then a boa plain n simple. I can look at any boa even a dog ass ugly boa and appreciate it for what it is .. a Boa why cant the one who keep the local boas give the courtesy of doing the same

(Disclaimer - yes i know this is full of bad typos , not good sentences and all but who cares its not being graded) lol
