Triad Oct 07, 2004 07:19 PM

So what all happens when Bearded Dragons go into brumation?

Any info would be appreciated.

not much really. The dragon sleeps all day and all night with little movement or activity. Brumation is alot like hibernation, the metabolizm slows drastically, energy consumption is also reduced, activity is nearly zip and you miss your dragon badly during this time.

Brumation lasts about 2-5 months and every once in awhile the dragon may wake up and move around then go back to sleep. More details can be seen in my post below.

See I'm wondering if Hades and Draco are brumating right now.

Draco sometimes goes up to bask and she has not been eating that much lately she mostly sleeps.

Hades will bask if the lights on and he eats almost every day.

I'm just wondering if I need to put them both through brumation or not.

I have a male beardie that has been hanging out underneath his half log and has bearly been coming coming out. I thought what he was doing was bad and I am about to take it out. But if this is normal and he is just hibernating I would like to know.

yeh i have the same symptoms as the person above...my dragon is about 1 year and 3 months...goes under a log and just doesnt move at all but if i put him under the heat lamp he perks back up. Wasnt sure if its brumating or not.
