Tomato Frog

jscory Oct 07, 2004 08:06 PM

We have a pet tomato frog that has developed large white patches in her skin on her back. When we moved the frog it began seeping white sticky fluid. Not sure what to do.

I am almost positive that is just a defense mechanism. They excrete a sticky white subtance when threatened by predators which makes the predator spit them out.

What might be the discoloration on the back of the frog. It is growing. The frog is developing white patches across its back.

Actually it could be getting ready to shed is it solid white or is it like a shiney color?

I think that your frog is very ill. I suspect either fungal or bacterial infection. If you do not seek vet assistance with this you may loose your frog. In the meantime place your frog in a small clean container with moist paper toweling substrate. Totally clean and disinfect original housing and all componets. You may be keeping the frog too wet. Good luck, Hank
