Gravid Coloration?

Mad_1234 Oct 07, 2004 09:13 PM

My female pietschmanni has been really darkly colored lately and hanging out towards the bottom of the cage. I'm wondering if this is an indication that she is about to lay eggs since this is about the time she would lay them but am also kind of worried that she may be sick. What do you think? I was gone during most of the month my female laid her clutch of eggs so I don't know if this if normal behavior. She has been eating though.

In my experience with henks, females have look that way after laying...

And before they lay (sometimes a day or more or only a few hours) they will shed... This has not always been the case though...

But yes, after laying, my females will be usually be awekwardly huntched over a low lying branch with very dark coloration and a very stressed overall appearence...
