what's up with her scales???

rusti Oct 07, 2004 09:41 PM

my 4/04 female shed about 2 weeks ago, and I noticed these scales were kinda strange... you might not be able to tell in the pic, but they have a sort of wrinkley texture...should I go to the vet or is there anything that I can use to get rid of it?
temps are good--85* with a 90* basking spot then down to 75* at night
humidity is good--50% normally, and 60-70% during shed. no soaking, just high humidity.
this is the main spot of weird scales, but there are scattered scales all over her that are the same. see for yourself...

but I raise my humidity even higher than that during sheds to make it not happen. It will often go away and since that isnt bad I am sure it will.

If it isn't a retained shed of a few scales it might be a small wound. One of mine escaped and rubbed her scales pretty hard to get out of the tightly closed enclosure, but its just a few scales that looked exactly like yours does now. After a few sheds it should go away if that is what it is. Yours could have rubbed maybe against something in its enclosure a bit too hard and caused that. If anything is a bit rough, jagged and ofcourse sharp at all take it out... Good luck.
