Possible Hypo Rainbowboa....at a petstore??

hyporainbowboas Oct 08, 2004 02:02 AM

Someone sent me these images of what looks to be a hypomelanistic rainbowboa. The images are not the best, BUT

IF I CAN MAKE THEM SHOW UP.....I would like to get some thoughts on him. It is an adult male and would have to be bred to females then bred back to his offspring to prove it genetic. It looks different than the ones that have already been proven genetic (EBV and Bell bloodlines) and thus it would be great if it were a third genetic bloodline. I just do not have 1,000 right now for something that is not proven genetic.....and I do not have enough baby snakes left to sell in order to make up the difference...

The pet store owner thinks it is a hypo as well and I don’t know how much I can talk him down. I will call him on October, ninth 2004.

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions. I want the snake either way…The way I see it is that even if he is not genetic, as soon as he breeds one female, the babies produced will pay for him twice over, even at $100 each. If it is genetic, then he will sire hypo bloodline #3 ready to plug into Albinos for SUNGLOW Rainbowboas…
I cannot wait.

Bryan,
..That snake looks very hypo but perhaps less hypo than the East Bay/Darin Bell Hypo bloodline. The PIC only shows part of the head but it is interesting that it seems to have reduced patern on the head like my semi-hypo looking Gary Walsh bloodline snakes. The big bonus is that the snake is a male so that you can breed it to a couple of different snakes trying to figure out what is going on. I would sure be interested to see what is produced if you breed that snake to the East Bay/Darin Bell Hypo bloodline. The BIG question is how much the owner thinks it is worth and how much you think it is worth.
Jeff

I also think the darker one is hypo looking just not to the extreme as the first. When looking at the 1st pic, I think they're both hypo because I don't see any black on the darker one. The second pic shows a more extreme difference, it will be interesting to see them firsthand.
