general question about gravid boas: is it unusual to have more than one POS before actual birth?
i've had 2 litters from this same female previously and although i haven't kept close track of exactly when her first POS was each time, she's already starting another shed phase and is still VERY pregnant...do y'all think that bodes well for a sizeable litter? (her first was 10 live and many slugs, 2nd was 26 live and only a couple slugs)

I have had adult female boas shed once, twice, three times and in at least one instance not at all between ovulation and giving birth. Persoanlly I believe the POS timing is only a good guideline, not any kind of absolute rule, and it varies from locality to locality (and facility to facility)..

Boas will shed for a lot of reasons, growth, injury or illness, even mites.. from the history you've given it seems likely your girl is still growing.. check your humidity levels and for mites just to be sure.
