Maturing eggs and humidity

Jim Merli Oct 08, 2004 08:34 AM

I was wondering if any of you guys purposely drop the humidity as your eggs reach the hatching date. If so, how far in advance do you start and what is the humidity you shoot for when they start to hatch ?

I heard how some let them 'dry out' as the incubation progresses but I've always been concerned that the egg shell may become too dry and make it tougher to slice with the egg tooth.

What are most of you doing as far as humidity when it comes close to hatching time ; keeping it constant or dropping it as the hatching date approaches ?

As Heloderm eggs get close to hatching, the oxygen exchange increases. This will increase the amount of steam in your egg box. The only thing you should do different is wipe off the excess condensation, so no water drips on your eggs. If you get to this point the main thing is "don't mess with them" the less you fool with them the better. I hope this helps out.
My best wishes to all,
