Where to get frozen ?

krestes Oct 08, 2004 10:20 AM

Our local pet stores are expensive. I was wandering if anyone can recommend somewhere to get them over the net cheaper. I have no experience buying pets and supplies over the net.

Thank You,
Ken

Frozen Rodents?

There are multiple venders on the net. Many who advertise on Kingsnake.com. I have used The Mouse Factory in Texas but most of these suppliers are probably comparable. Mice are a lot cheaper from internet vendors but shipping can be expensive. It may not be economical unless you have a larger number of snakes and are going to buy enough rodents to last 6 months or more. I have 50 snakes on rodents and I purchase a couple thousand feeders at a time (mostly pinks and fuzzies.)I purchased a chest type freezer just for herp food. The dealer I use vacuum packs the rodents in smaller quantities of 25-50 depending on size. This works out well for me.

kingsnake classifieds there's a section for food/feeders etc. the ideal situation is if you live near a rodent breeder and can pick up or at a show.air freight and dry ice usually run $25-30,so you need to buy a lot to lower the cost per rodent.if you use them only a few at a time make sure there vacuum packed for long shelf life.

I have (well now 5 snakes) but at the time I only had 2. I ordered a bunch from big cheese rodents, due to the fact that they stay good vacuum sealed for 2 years at least. I bought a bag of sm pinks, lg pinks, and a bag of fuzzies. they sell in bags of 50, excellent shipping policy...actual shipping cost a small box fee. lots of places charge you outrageous shipping. And the mice are great from them!
