first i'd like to say THANK YOU to all that have help new or interested chamelon owners like myself! especially john(charm paradise) your site and advise has helped me set things up and fine tune out all the bugs for our new chameleon. THANK YOU!!

so this morning our new chameleon arrived at 9:45! my wife put him in his cage and gave him 5 crickets. he ate those with in the an hour she told me. so i gave him 5 more crickets, dusted them this time though, and in hour all but one has been eaten. it's now 6:30pm and the one cricket is just crawling around the bottom. our chameleon when he first arrived went straight to the back of the cage and his color stayed like a smokey grey/brown with a few specks of blue green. after being in his cage a bit he stayed the same color but had dark bars. then about twenty minutes ago he was climb up the side of the cage under the heat lamp and he turned BABY BLUE WITH DARK BARS!! he seems to prefer to to be in the middle of the plant under the reptisun 5.0 light with the occasional walk to the heat lamp. my wife works at a emergancy vetraniary hospital that has two locations. the one she works at doesn't see reptiles but their other hospital does and my wife asked me if i wanted her to schedule a check up so i could ask about feeding and things. i told her no that i'd wait until i needed to... and besides i got you guys to fall back on!

Dennis-

Glad to here you got your new chameleon, and he is settling in well, its about time!LOL They eat allot of food, crickets can be expensive when you buy them at a pet shop. I know you don't need 1000 at a time or even 500, but if you price it out you get more for your money buying bulk and save money in the long run. I know I spent $5 for 50 crickets at my local shop, when my order was late and they lasted only 2 days(got me through the weekend). I paid $16 for 1000 crickets shipped, for $16 at my local shop I could get only 150 crickets they are a rip off. I am glad my site was of help to you. Keep us posted!
