I don't know any herp vet in San Jose but here's a couple of vets that are tort savvy that I use:

Dr. Kenneth Harkewicz (he keeps torts himself)
Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital
2288 Haste Street
Berkeley, CA 94707
510-848-5041
harkherp@aol.com (he's very good in answering his e-mails)

Dr. Barrett (he's been raising torts for many years)
Canyon Veterinary Hospital
20897 Redwood Road
Castro Valley, CA 94546
510-582-6704

Good luck!

i have been given Dr. Harkewicz's name a couple times now and i'm thinking it just might be worth the drive.

Dr. Harkewicz is an awesome herp vet. He either trained or studied with Dr. Susan Donoghue of Walkabout Farm. I know for sure he keeps desert torts himself. I know a few tort keepers in the bay area go to him for their torts.

Ginger Wilfong of CTTC recommended Dr. Barrett to me. She uses Dr. Barrett for her own torts and rescues.

If you ever find one let me know, I no longer live in San Jose.. But I've always been curious.. and Don't rely on the Emergency Vet by Oakridge for squat.. they know nothing, it took them 2 hours and an X-ray to find out my monitor had an impaction, when I told them that when I brought him in.. No one listens to a 13 year old.. (2 years ago)
