P.S. I always take my M1 with me when I go hunting - specifically for situations like the one you described. I am lobbying now to make hand grenades and bounding fragmention mines into legal hunting devices as well!
I'm not opposed to using a rifle, I enjoy the stealth required with a bow; its like sniping only real close. I'm thinking of buying an atlatl in the spring and trying that next fall after a full summer of practice.
