So how much do you pay for aspen (survey)

I am curious because I use those washable carpet mats and am tired of washing them. I may just switch to "stuffing" my tank. All opposing opinions are welcome and any rebrocast of this without the express written permission of the National Football league will be prohibited.... Sorry, I just wanted to throw that in.... LOL

i just went from the carpet to aspen...I got a bag which i filled my 20 long, my 29, (2) 7"x11" kritter keepers, and a 10g...took up about 2/3rds of the bag which cost $5. Spot clean...had it in there about a month now and its not stinking at all so i'm not gonna bother replacing it till it starts stinking...

I buy shredded aspen in large bales (50 lbs.), and it usually costs me between $10 and $18 per bale. Many of my 30 snakes have newspaper substrate, especially during the summer months. But, for those who need to burrow all year, or who are brumating, aspen is the substrate of choice. As a note, I seldom use it with prolific poopers, like my bull snakes (unless they're brumating) because newspaper makes hygiene easier to manage. Sometimes aspen can look and/or smell clean, but still has been contaminated by waste matter.
