Hi my rat just had some pinkies but I was about to change the bedding should I keep the same bedding in the cage until the rats are old enough to seperate I just want to know because I don;t want to disturb the mother and have her eat the babies and also right now she is making a huge mound to keep her babies but I have one of those platic castle things that they can hide in should I put that in or just let her build her mound

Thanks for all in advance.

If the female trusts you then she won't care if you change the cage or not. I rarely see rats eat young due to stress. I would take her out, take out the babies to a separate box and then clean. Dump in the babies in their pile and them put mom back and let her fuss with them. Don't try to choose a nest spot for her.
