Hybrid ? or no ? opinions ?

coldthumb Oct 08, 2004 05:53 PM

I bought this girl a little over 2 years ago(as a Variable king)and i have alot of faith in the original seller.

She was traded and then returned to me(this month)because the person felt she was a "Pueblan milk or even a Thayeri/Pueblan hybrid".

So now my curiosity has reached its max....

Any opinions would be great.

They are called Variable Kingsnakes for a reason. That is a really clean-looking one if you ask me.

A close call (would need to see the veneer). But on what I see I would have to agree with old herper.

Wow,that one made me feel like true noob. lol

Are you referring to the ventral area?
Or just her underbelly ?
Let me know what to take a pic of and i will post it.

Thank you both for your time, responses and opinions.

btw:
Here is one more pic of her that i already have on this pc.

One of these?

...to be more specific

The animal pictured in the above link does greatly resemble mine.
However the one in the link below shows the same trapezoid shape to the white rings as mine.

The veneer is the belly. What (if any) pattern will give us a solid clue to what it is.

What Frank actually means is the venter, the ventral side. Pattern or markings on the venter are often ID keys.

Ok....I can see why your friend returned it. Superficialy it looks like a Pueblan. The band counts fit perfectly...But the head looks like it has much more white than it should and the Venter (thank you old herper) is wrong. The odd black intermittent spots and the way the pattern fades to white in the middle bother me. It is also something I have not seen in mexicana's.

I would agree with your customer that this is very possibly a Pueblan x (?) Hybrid. Was this C/b?

I suggest you post these photos on the milk snake forum. Some of those guys over there are real good at the fine details and can probably give you a more specific opinion.
