Hi I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried culturing wax worms for their frogs. I think mine are getting tired of eating flies and any crickets I've found are too big. So any information would be great. Thanks.

Its not that hard. You can make the medium for the wax worms to eat or you can purchase it. Its just as easy to make it. Only thing is timing the worms so that you get them when they are small and not to big for the frogs.
I did some reading after posting and it sounds like it is a big sticky mess with the honey and the webbing. I was wondering how does it compare to culturing other insects like springtails and rice flour beetles? Is there any difference in difficulty? Thanks.

I have Indian meal moths, but I've heard they're very similar to lesser waxworms, which are what you want to raise for darts because the greater waxworms grow too large. Ed's Fly Meat sells both. The webbing isn't that much trouble if you keep them in a deli cup. I use the same 32oz cups I use for raising fruit flies. They have perforated poly cloth covered lids from Superior Enterprises. The larva are usually out crawling on the surface of the substrate and silk. They do spin, but I just tear out the wad of silk and toss it in the cage. The frogs love picking them off, and later I just go back and throw the silk away.
