When are they not a hatchling?

I was wondering at what age torts are when they are not considered a hatchling anymore? Thanks!

Depends on the tortoise, but I can imagine for the slow growers.. whenever they reach size enough to be legally sold.

Possibly a breeder can tell you how old they'd be.. I'd say anywhere from 6 months to 5 years.. I know Desert tortoises that are 3 years old and only twice the bulk of my 3 month old hatchlings

i consider russian tortoises to no longer be considered hatchlings at about six months of age. they're still quite small, but they have lost that cute, fresh-out-of-the-shell blink in their eye and are getting real serious about getting to the food first and pushing brethren out of the way. seriously, by this age they no longer look like a hatchling, their coloration starts changing and the shell is much harder.
