phelsumaniac Oct 08, 2004 09:45 PM

Has enyone idea of sexing the snake by counting
their scales??

For example:
Boa Constrictor females: 50 scales
Boa constrictor male: 60 scales

I´ve tried with boas but i´don have any
idea how many scales must I count on balls phytons

If somebody could help me I would be glad.
Thanks

Doesn't work with balls. Probing is the most reliable way.

Probing or "popping" are the ways to tell.

By the way..

Popping is a great way - slipped my mind as I was thinking adult snakes. For neonates popping would be my first choice. And if you find sperm plugs on the shed, that's an obvious sign of a male.
