She is a patternless yellow with a touch of red banding in her tail. She came from Urban Jungles, along with Osiris from above.

Nice! I didn't realize there was a proven recessive leopard gene out there, but a smoker none the less. Congrats on a fine collection!

Yup, Urban Jungles proved it out last year.

treeboas.com Oct 09, 2004 09:18 AM

I know all about the leopards being genetic. I just didn't realize it was proven recessive at this time. The only ways to make guaranteed recessive hets is breeding homo x normal or homo x het. Based on my own observations I was not aware that a proven homozygous recessive leopard even existed. I guess there must have been other test breedings that occured besides that litter from last year? I'm very much into amazon genetics and would like to hear more about this if possible. Thank you!

I would love to hear more about it as well! Those leopards are awsome looking, and if it is genetic I would love to hear the details of how it has been proven out, and I would want to get some leopards and/or hets, as I would imagine many other people would as well.

They have a certain female that no matter what male you put her with produces Leopards.

treeboas.com Oct 09, 2004 11:54 AM

The gene is dom/co-dom, not recessive. The 'normals' from these litters are just that, normal. They are not hets.

Sorry, I thought it was a recessive gene, I'll talk to John about it again. Sorry to cause confusion of the het if I did, I should have said he is a possible het and not a true het. It will be a while before we know

KennethZweerink Oct 09, 2004 05:32 PM

Leopard Pattern is a Co-dom Trait the offspring you should get in a litter should be 50 % Normal 50 % Leopard's,the Normal's would not be Het's and the Leopard's would'nt be Het's, they would be Co-dom for Leopard.Have any of the offspring from this Female been Proven to be Co-dom Leopard's ?

They also got breeders choice for the Leopards in December's Reptiles magazine for the Leopards which I just got today

cyberfrog Oct 09, 2004 11:58 AM

Here is the litter my little guy was born with. I guess he would really be a possible het since his mother carried the recessive and his father had nothing, sorry to cause confusion.

This is Onyx, the prize of our collection. She is from Urban Jungles Onyx line. She is one of 4 babies of that line in existence today. There will be more on the way this coming year I believe.
