I always use a mild bleach solution when cleaning my cages. I thought it does a better job of disinfecting than soap. Just my opinion

Someone asked this the other day, bleach kills a lot but not all. Use bleach, then rinse, then ammonia, then rinse again. The ammonia kills something the bleach doesn't, I think it is crypto or something with a c

Just a quick note of caution. If you are going to disinfect your tank with bleach and then ammonia, that's fine as long as you make sure you get all of the bleach out first. You ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY DO NOT want to have those two liquids mix. It produces ammonium-chloride gas and is very DEADLY.
Not to be paranoid, but some people aren't aware. I would hate to think that someone would think they combine the two liquids to kill ALL bad stuff in their tank.

Yeah I brought this up in the other post about bleach and ammonia mixing and making poison gas. I guess I should have said it again, it is important.

It was me who brought up the question about cleanign the tank
just soak the tank/decorations (except wood and coconut sheels, that can be boiled). I'd let the bleach sit in the tank for afew days, clean it really good and amonia the sucker for a few days. Tell em how it works for you, since ammonia is suppose to kill crypto
