Bedding

I'm beginning to use a new bedding in my brooksi's cage, called "Zoo Mart Repti Bark." Is this bedding appropriate for kingsnakes?

My brooksi is also starting to burrow in the bedding! Is this normal for a kingsnake?

My snake usually burrows during winter when its going into hybernation, maybe its going into hybernation? My brothers corn burrows year round LOL. It could also just be checking out its new bedding and/or it could just be have bin cold this whole time and now it has something to keep warm in?, check your temp. So i think its pretty normal. I havnet heard of that bedding so I cant help you w/that part sorry i couldnt be more help. GOOD LUCK

I don't think she's trying to go into hibernation because she hasn't even finished her shed. I bought new bedding because she's been having trouble shedding, and bark keeps in humitity well.

Just about every kingsnake does this. I heard some grow out of it, and some keep in the habit. It's nothing unusual.

Personally I dont recommend using that as the substrate. I used it before and got splinters from it. I've heard of it splintering and getting under scales, and also snakes being allergic to it. Also some snakes dont like the feel of it. I use aspen shavings for my baby snakes. Its softer, more absorbent, and many snakes enjoy burrowing in it to hide. Others use different things as substrate, but for me aspen works the best.

Hear is a picture. She really seems to like beig able to burrow. I don't think I'll have any problem with splinters.
