First off...I'm confused. Why guppies?
The only guppies I see around my parts are either the more expensive display fish, or those binky little feeder fish.
If you want to feed fish,I would use rosey reds ( tuffies ).
And as far as the dangling method, if at first you dont succeed, try try again. Eventually your frog will catch on.
It also does'nt hurt to hold off a day or two of feeding.
Hunger is a great motivator.
Once your frog takes the food from the tongs, he'll do it all the time. At least that is my experience.
The only exception I've ever had to that, is...
My Pixie frog, will eat and attack anything that falls in its tank. Even as far as attacking water. He'll eat anything no matter how it's presented. My Pac Man frogs are fussier and only feed from tongs now.
Keep trying, and use somewhat bigger prey.
My Pac Man frogs only attack me .
My pac-man won't eat the fish out of his water bowl. I find if I lay the fish right in front of him the moment it moves he grabs it. If he doesn't eat it within a few minutes I remove it.
