Results of the T-Rex GGD diet

EricKlees Oct 09, 2004 09:35 PM

Remember a few posts down I mentioned how the GGD kept the weight on my females during the Breeding season. Well this is an Orange and black Harliquin that is producing 2 large eggs every 3 weeks like clockwork and is only 13 months old. I took this pic earlier today and she laid her 3rd clutch on the 7th (couple days ago). Her first eggs hatched Monday the 4th after 59 days at 78 degrees.

The stuff is awsome IMO

I get mine direct from Allen, Sandfiredragontranch.com

I dont have a site yet. I am still working on it. I will be working on it over the winter and i'm having some custom illustrations done for logos and such. Since next season is when im gonna really producing alot at the same time, I didnt wanna set it up and advertise and have nothing to sell for chunks of time. I just thought that wouldnt be good to do.

I am putting most of my stuff together in the next month or so. That way next spring and summer ill have 3-6 months old animals along with a few babies from the last of the clutches. I believe in holding them untill they are close to 3 months of age so you get a better idea of color before you buy and to make sure they are well started. And i am getting better at sexing them at about 3.5-4 months of age with an 8x eye glass.

Another place to order is is from "Giantgeckos.com" - Philippe DeVosjoli's site. I always buy two big jugs - one Gargoyle and the other Crested Gecko diet and is 60 bucks shipped - which is a Great price.

I'm not breeding as many as Eric, but I can attest to the value of CG and GG diet. My guys are very healthy, all throughout breeding season.

Yes I was just looking at that .Do you mix the 2 or just use them separate.I think I am going to all GGD as the results look good to me.

Well, Eric has more experience than I do. I do feed GGD to my juvi's and my gargoyles. The rest get CGD.

I'm more of a follower than a leader. Right now, I follow Allen's directions - although Eric has some good results. I don't know enough about nutrition to be able to figure out the long term effects of excess protien in cresteds. Can't be good for the kidneys - sort of like the effects of the Atkin's diet (but then again, I may just be full of it!!!)

Well now that I have a cup of coffee I will respond and say that its a excellant point and that being said I do not think it makes you full of it.I think it is something to keep in mind and shows alot of thought so go easy on yourself and leave the demoralizing remarks for everyone else.

Powergeckos...I agree that too much protien is not a good thing and can have adverse effects on the kidneys. But it doesnt really apply here. the reason being is that the GGD is still far below the protien content of crix, since crix is mostly protien.

Plus I did say how I was feeding it. I cut it back for durning the non breeding season and feed it everyday when the females are being depleted durin egg development and when males are generalyl eating less when all they want to do is breed and not eat much.

I dont think there is ANY issue of too much protien in the GGD when its only at 30% compared to crix that are well over 50% protien.

I will tell you it is nice to come on a forum and just hear different points of views debated and still keep it friendly without others getting all hurt and defensive .I am getting lots of ideas and people who have done there homework....sorry school referance there......

. . . like I said, I didn't do the research - so I was probably spitting in the wind. Thanks for the clarification.

I'll have to ask Allen on his rational for having 2 diets.

Cool stuff. Thanks . . .

Also, I forgot to mention. This is a hold back from last year and this is one of many that has never seen anything but the GGD.
