Looks to me like veiledchamlvr has more experience with veileds than with panthers? hehe Same here but I would say blue bar ambilobe, wait for other replies before you officially call him that.

Veiledchamlvr, remember that noseys in captivity are almmost completely blue, with slight red backgrounds SOMETIMES, and usually only when young.

ooops. maybe i should stick to veileds lol

Heya,

It looks like a classic case of cross breeding to me. He hasn't got the traits of a blue bar ambilobe or a nosy be for that matter. His markings are all over the shop. He is still a fantastic looking animal but just be aware of the fact that he could be a cross. I always strongly recommend that you do not breed him to any female unless you are absolutely sure about his origin.

No offence meant in anyway mate, he's still a great looking panther either way you look at it.

Best regards,

René Imming.

Has anyone else noticed differences in the shape of the faces with the different locales.
Most pure Nosey Be males I have seen don't have a very large or pronounced rostrum. They have blunt faces.
The Ambilobes have a very long pointy face and pointy snout.
Ambanjas have a big flat rostrum. Their snout almost looks like a big shovel.
Has anyone noticed that or does anyone have animals that don't follow those descriptions.
Just curious.

I am no real expert, but my vote is a very solid Red Bar Ambanja.
