Hypnotizing a frog?

CokeOfMan Oct 10, 2004 09:21 AM

Watched a show on Animal Planet yesterday the show (Wich I don't know what it's called) when animals do things/tricks and there are some celebrety judges there to judge them.
Well, anyway a girl (Think she was maybe 11 y old?) came in with a frog wich she said was a Bronze Frog and said she was going to hypnotize it. She then put it on it's back and kind of stroked it's belly and said something like "I know you don't wanna go to sleep but you have to". Well, the frog became somewhat lifeless untill she turned it over.
Why does this happen? I've heard that if you put a Waterdragon on its back it will "go to sleep" beceause it doesn't get any air, is it the same with frogs? I guess this isn't very good for the frog anyhow.
And also, are frogs coldblooded or do they have a consistand body temperature?

i have heard of it and done it with my egyptian toad only a little bit differently. what i do is hold him in one hand and cover him with the other. then i turn both hands over and when he comes out he stays on his back for about 4 seconds. i have heard of the one where you stroke it from neck to hind legs but im not sure if that works.

Well in lizards (not just WDs), I believe if I am not mistaken that by turning them upside down you cause their diaphram (sp?) to stop flexing, thus you are more or less suffocating the liz. Now I would imagine it is the same for frogs, although I cannot say for sure.

And yes all amphibs and reps are cold-blooded, they cannot regulate their temperature, it is the same as the surroundings.
