fancypet Jun 28, 2003 12:10 AM

Please HELP!!!!
On Saturday night or early Sunday morning my reptile house at my farm(D & H Pet Farms, Inc) in Plant City, Fl was broken into and over 100 snakes worth $25,000.00 were stolen. Some of you know my business as Fancypet. I am offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in this heinious crime. Not only did these persons steal half of my snakes they also killed my son's 3 ducklings that were housed in the reptile house for warmth. They strangled 2 of the ducklings and broke the neck of the smallest one. The Deputy said that this was to keep the ducklings from making noise. The following is a small list of the most expensive snakes. ALL, EXCEPT 2 WERE BREEDABLE THIS COMING SEASON OR WERE BRED ALREADY AND GRAVID.
The 2 that are young are 1.1 MADAGASCAR GROUND BOAS.
ALSO TAKEN WERE:

Make sure you post this crime over on www.[bleep].com also. There's a bunch of people over there that have been talking about snakes being stolen in Florida before. Might wanna touch base with some of those people.

Post pictures of as many of your snakes that are distinctive as possible. Scan all of the herp classifieds sections as frequently as possible. I doubt these suckers are going to just keep the snakes, I'm betting they'll try to sell some. I'd post pictures of the kingsnakes in the kingsnake forum, and rats in the ratsnake forum, etc. I'd even make sure to post pictures almost every month too. Strangely enough I feel the saddest for the little boy with the lost ducks. It's bad enough to steal animals for a profit, but to destroy animals you don't care about in order to get it done? how rude!

I wish you luck in finding your snakes and seeing the culprits roast!

Thanks a good idea!

And yes, it is awful that all those snakes were stolen, but it is also terrible that they killed the baby ducks!
That is soooo sad-- really makes me mad...

I really hope those people are caught and the snakes are returned asap!

Were any of them microchipped? When I take in any animal from a shelter for adoption, I always ask the shelter to scan for a chip, just in case.

I agree, I give all of my reptiles microchips. Only problem is how expensive the readers are.

I swear by microchips!

In Tampa...

He posted about it on fauna classifieds in the general business section.

Fauna Classifieds /forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=65449

"Well, My store was robbed Wednesday night between the hours of 7:30 PM and 11:00 am Thursday mourning. I had to insurance at all on the animals (do to the locations history...with Neil's 4 claims). I waited until I talked to the police to see if it would be OK to post this and what I should and should not write. So here goes, There were at least 2 people that broke in the rear window of the new side of the store (I am expanding and just least the entire building and the alarm was not tied into mine yet) it appears that the first animal that they went to was my 5' Argus monitor but it seems that he did not want to go do to the fact that from his cage there was a blood trail along with blood on the monitor himself and every other cage that was emptied. They only took things that could easily be sold nothing rare. Here is a list:

2 - 8' retics
1 - male hypo boa 4'
2 - adult red dragons
9 - baby red dragons
3 - juvie red dragons
4 - flapneck chameleons
3 - baby patternless Burmese
20 - baby Burmese
4 - 3' block pattern boas
3 - baby Argentine boas
40 - baby ball pythons
1 - baby c.a. boa
2 - adult c.a. boas
2 - juvie savanna monitors
1 - pair adult jungle carpet pythons
2 - milk snakes
1 - adult gtp aru
1 - baby circle back ladder tail

I am offering a $500 reward for info leading to the arrest and conviction of the people that did this. If you know the people or have info on them please call the Tampa Police the case number is #03-290215 Zodiac Reptile. We are looking for a person trying to sell these animals and has a large new wound either on the hand or arm. The police do have a couple great leads and if an arrest is made the blood will help. On Thursday early afternoon one of the monitors was recovered but the location I cannot say, Thank you all for any and all help in this.

you know the old saying; Use a Thief to catch a thief. Well what about; what better way to hide a theft that to have a theft. Some of those reptiles in Zodiac Reptiles were mine on consignment.
