Superworms

BeardieKid14 Jun 28, 2003 12:15 AM

I was thinking about ordering Superworms from reptilefood.com. I was wondering if anyone had order from them? I also know nothing about superworms and was wondering if anyone had a link or could tell me how to take care of superworms?

I have never bought from them before but I usually buy my superworms from http://www.superwormfarm.com/page4.html since they sell small ones. I use wheat bran along with the superworm food from Walkabout Farm to feed them. You can use the commercial dry cricket food and a piece of potato or carrot as water source.

The other posters had very good points, but if you only have a few leos, I would keep this in mind. It has been my experience that most of my adult leos will not eat full sized mealworms. Only one of my 16 adult leos enjoys supers, and he could eat them all day if given the chance. This is by no means a scientific study, just what I’ve seen in my geckos. If at all possible, I would try to find a local pet store or bait shop that could provide you with a small quantity of superworms. My Petco has them in a 20 pack, for a few dollars, and they are two miles down the road. This way if your geckos don’t like them much, you won’t be stuck with a lot like I was. They are very easy to care for, just keep them at room temp. They need some high quality food, so they are nutrition to your leos. Best of luck, and let us know how it turns out.

Welly well well i feed my super worms as a snack to most of me herps. And well i havent really ever ordered them online because i go to snakes at sunset(great place for feed). Supers are easy to chew and they love the taste. If you have smalll animals you should watch them eat because the super worm can be a bit of a fighter, often thrashing while being chewed and using its fangs. if you havent introduced worms to your lizards diet, it'll probably take some time for them to eat it, and mostly small herps as juvenile leos. off coarse all lizards vary, some as did my small hypo tangerine cow took it on and paid no mercy the first time i introducedthe supers. Well good luck and good herping.

keep fishing,
iRon
